BACKGROUND
The name Ukweli, meaning “The Truth” in Swahili.
We see this used by Jesus in John 8:32, when He says, “And you shall know the truth and the truth will set you free.” He again uses it to identify Himself in John 14:6 — “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
Ukweli was founded in 2023 as a result of Agasha Gloria’s lifelong dream to minister to Children. Especially those who do not attend church, are part of a religion where the Word of God is not taught, have been made to feel are not accepted in church because of not wearing the proper clothes or shoes.
With the encouragement, support, and partnership of The Word to The World www.thewordtotheworld.org these long-awaited dreams came to reality.
After receiving permission from government officials and being trained through child evangelism, we began to look for the location of the first Good News Club. The Lord gave us a place, and on 2nd March 2024, we had our first meeting with 32 children in attendance. And over time, the Lord has increased it to over 150 children attending every Saturday to hear the Gospel.
Ukweli is always looking to start other Good News Clubs in neighborhoods and schools. The Lord has expanded the vision to include other ministries such as discipleship, scholarships, teaching children how to read and write, and pen pals, among others.
Since the beginning, we have reached out to the community in many ways, most importantly, by sharing the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ. We emphasize that each one of them matters to the Lord and that the Gospel is for everyone. (Acts 10:34)
Today, Ukweli stands as a testimony of God’s faithfulness as children are taught, nurtured in the faith, creating a safe and joyful space where children discover God’s truth, love, and purpose for
their lives.
We are seeking to raise a generation of children who know the Truth and will live it out boldly.
