Greetings in the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Thank you so much for praying for Ukweli Children Bible Clubs and all that the Lord is doing here.
A quick update on the property tax issue that we had requested prayer for: The owner of the property was given a grace period of two weeks to clear the taxes. She was only able to pay part of it with the remainder due in July. We agreed to pay her in advance July’s rent to help her cover the remaining taxes. She was very grateful for our thoughtfulness.
With the tax issue taken care of, we were able to conduct our one-week holiday training. We do these trainings twice a year to help our older children learn how to share the Gospel with their fellow children in their homes, Good News Clubs, and churches.
A very special fellow servant of Christ, Miss Gail Beagin, from the USA was able to come and help conduct this training.
She came to Uganda days earlier to be part of all the Good News Clubs before the training, discipleship class had more days to be part of the clubs after the training before returning to the USA. We are thankful for the Lord’s protection and the Lord’s angelic intervention throughout her travels.
We were able to teach an eager and attentive 50-plus children, equip them with material, and feed them daily for the 5 days.
At the end of the training, we had the children teach the Bible lesson, a memory verse, among others at Saturday and Sunday’s Good News Clubs. It was great seeing the Lord use them and pray that the Lord will preserve them for Himself and use them for His glory. Thanks to you for your generous support in making this run successful.
The weekend after that, we were able to have lunch with Gail and the young disciples as we celebrated her early birthday.
Also during the 3 weeks of holiday, we had tutoring for some of our children in our sponsorship program.
Some of them hadn’t performed well during the previous term. This was due in large part to some of them had not atteneded school for some years because their parents were not able to afford to pay the school fees, Some of our children had missed up to 3 years of school. The tutoring would help them catch up to the other students. We realize that this tutoring program would be a tremendous help to our children if it could continue throught the year. Please pray for this to become a reality.
We hired two teachers to conduct the holiday tutoring sessions. These sessions took place at our learning center from 9:00 to noon each weekday for the three-week school break.
Alongside this was our learning to read classes in the evenings when we didn’t have the holiday training. We have seen great improvement and testimonies from this.
However, there is still a great need for a more consistent missionary/teacher to take on the learning to read sessions. Keep this in prayers as we cannot do much with just me, as I have many other things to take care of concerning the ministry.
Our new school term in Uganda has started, and we are helping 50 children with school fees and other requirements.
This holiday, we had some of our young disciples, Bruce, Solomon, Rebecca, and Shanise, join Emma and Promise in volunteering and helping with different work that needed to be done at the learning center. They have been a great help in so many ways. In the afternoons when the holiday training was not taking place, we had the skills classes going for our young disciples and other older children. These skills involved Guitar lessons, sewing, crocheting, Inventory taking, and cooking. Children were divided among these skills, and each came on their designated days. This was very helpful, and we look forward to improving these when schools are on break.
Our Good News Clubs have been running well, and we are in awe of all the children that are coming weekly to listen to the Word of God. We thank God for providing the speaker that we use, especially on the Saturday club, so that all children are able to hear well. We are looking at two possible locations for opening the third club. Pray for the Lord’s direction and will.
Remember to pray for some of our children who have to deal with a lot, as they don’t have fathers in the house. Some of our children were left alone in the house, three weeks after their mother was arrested. They haven’t seen her again ever since.
Please pray for the following;
• The school sponsorship program
• For the fellow laborers: teachers/tutors
• For our children and the various needs that they have.
• For the final decision on the new Good News location
• For me, that God will give me grace, wisdom, patience and good health.
• And the entire ministry
We thank the Lord for all that He is doing and thank you so much for standing with this ministry in prayers, encouragement, and financial assistance. The Lord exceedingly bless you a lot and give peace to you.
In the Lord,
Gloria Agasha
