JUNE – JULY UPDATE

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus.
Praying that the Lord has kept you well.

Thank you for faithfully serving with us. The past two months have been busy, but the Lord has enabled us to accomplish many things.

In June, Pastor Drew was able to stay extra weeks, during which he held some IBS classes, special discipleship classes, assistance in the new club and the existing clubs, among other things in the ministry.

We were able to take our children out to Lake Victoria, again where we had a fun day of fellowship, games, swimming, and food.

Good News Clubs. We also started a new Good News Club in the community behind the airport. This community consists mainly of Catholics and Muslims. At the first outing, we had many children. Three weeks later, we returned to hold the second meeting. We are going to start on a more regular basis every other week for now. Please keep us in prayer because the enemy has a real stronghold here, and we appreciate your prayers.

The clubs in Lusa and Colombia are doing very well. The disciples are helping with the clubs and doing a great job.

Learning to Read Classes.  The Learning to Read Class and the children that have been with us from the beginning are improving tremendously. This has helped with their comprehension and performance in school.
The parents’ lack of commitment to the children attending this class has created a challenge for us. We appreciate your prayers in this.

Mini School.  On June 15th, we started a mini school of three students and one teacher. Edinah is her name. These students attend classes Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 3 PM. All subjects are taught with a great focus on reading and comprehension. Our goal is to bring them to a level of competency where they can succeed back in public school. Edinah, who has been a teacher for 10 years, is doing a wonderful job with the children.

Discipleship program.  We currently have two levels of discipleship with 30 disciples. We are about to start a new discipleship class of 10 children.
We meet every Sunday afternoon at our learning center.

Scholarship program. Currently, we have 58 students who attend school through our scholarship program. The average cost for a child attending primary school is 50USD per term. A school year consists of three terms. The cost per term for secondary school is 100USD per term.
All of our students are improving. And together with their parents are grateful that they can attend school.

Tutoring classes and Holiday Trainings. We recently built a large storage shed and converted half of it into a classroom. I have attached a video and photos. This classroom will accommodate our holiday tutoring, sewing, knitting/crocheting classes. We will also hold classes on cooking and inventory taking.
Holiday tutoring sessions and programs will begin on 26th August when school break starts and will last for three weeks.

From August 31st to September 4th, we will be holding a 5-day training in the afternoon for 50-plus children on how to reach children with the gospel. This is the fourth training we have held like this.

September 13th, we shall be travelling to the Pastors Training Center in Kobwin to conduct a week-long training for children’s teachers so that they may go to their villages and start Good News Clubs. The need is very much. God enabling, we shall be equipping them with materials and curriculum to use after the training.

Other Notes. A young man by the name of Emma, who has been helping with ministry for the past 11 months, will be leaving for college to pursue his Laboratory tech certification. We are happy for him, but he will be greatly missed.

– ⁠The children whose mother was in jail are now out and trying to make ends meet again for her children.

Prayer requests

· Consistency in support for our scholarship program.
· Continued improvement for our children in their schools.
· God to provide the learning-to-read teacher.
· Unity among our children (Philippians 2:1-4)
· ⁠One of our girls who has never had any contact with her father has been left behind so that her mother could travel to a distant area with the new man. Please keep her in prayer.
· Much Grace, strength, and wisdom for Gloria as she leads all these ministries.
